Linksys Open Source

I now got a linksys wireless router, but when I bought it I did not know that the software was open source, and that the router was running linux embedded on a x86 architecture. That was a little cool. Then I found DD-Wrt, it was a modefied version of the linksys embedded linux. It has more functions and support radius authorization and more cool stuff. I patched my router, and now it runs with the dd-wrt system and when you sign in on the wireless access point, the linksys router check with my openbsd firewall trough radius about if you are authorized to access my wireless zone.

The dd-wrt also got a package manager and shell access to the wireless router, and it also got a read/write partition on it. So that means that I can use my wireless router as a computer in a way… I could run irssi (irc client) or something on it. Anyway, I’m going to make a custom version of the dd-wrt system with my own modefications. I will write it here when I have done it :)
